The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) recorded 20 disaster-related incidents across the country between the morning of Mangsir 15 and the morning of Mangsir 16.
According to the authority, 17 out of the 20 incidents were fire-related, while the remaining three incidents included a snowstorm in Mustang, a snakebite case in Mahottari, and an animal attack in Parsa. In Parsa, a 55-year-old woman from Parsa Gadhimai Municipality-3, Jhullitar, was injured after being attacked by a tiger while collecting grass in the forest.
The authority reported that the fires caused an estimated loss of NPR 82.91 lakh. Fire incidents were recorded in Siraha (3 cases), Bhojpur (2), and one each in Panchthar, Morang, Udayapur, Saptari, Rautahat, Bara, Parsa, Lalitpur, Kaski, Kapilvastu, Gulmi, and Banke.
Most of the fire incidents were found to be caused by carelessness, including:
- Cooking animal feed in cowsheds

- Sudden fires in electric vehicles
The authority noted that many fire incidents could be prevented with simple precautions, but lack of awareness and negligence continue to cause significant loss of life and property.
