Coordinator of the Nepal Communist Party, Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, has said that development and prosperity will remain limited to words unless the private sector is encouraged and an investment-friendly environment is created.
Speaking at an interaction program titled Cooperation for Peace, Stability and Prosperity organized by the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) on Wednesday, he said the state’s perspective toward the private sector has been weak and needs urgent improvement.
He stated, “If the private sector is not encouraged and an investment-friendly environment is not created, development and prosperity will remain mere talk. There are serious weaknesses in our state structure and in our thinking when it comes to viewing the private sector. We need to correct this. This is a historic opportunity for self-review and moving forward. Rather than talking too much about development and prosperity, we must, for now, prioritize conducting elections.”
Prachanda also said the Gen Z movement has, on one hand, encouraged political leadership and society to undertake self-review of established institutions and representatives, and on the other hand, raised serious questions for everyone about making new commitments or stepping aside from the stage of history.
“The Gen Z movement strongly pushed political leadership and society toward self-reflection, while also questioning whether we are ready to take new resolve or leave the historical stage. For this, I want to thank the Gen Z activists,” he said.
Stating that elections are the only option at present, Prachanda praised the current government for taking this step despite various challenges.
