Rabi Lamichhane, chairperson of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has been discharged from hospital after his health condition showed improvement. He requested discharge stating that frequent visitors at the hospital were causing inconvenience and that he preferred to rest at home.
Hospital spokesperson and Deputy Director Dr. Gopal Prasad Sedhain confirmed that Lamichhane has been discharged. He was undergoing treatment for cellulitis.
Lamichhane had traveled to Janakpur on Magh 5 to attend a party program, where he injured his left leg while stepping down from the stage. Initially considering the injury minor, he took some medication and continued with his election campaign in his constituency, Chitwan. Due to a busy schedule, he could not take medicines regularly, causing the pain to persist. The wound became swollen, and the leg turned red.
Nine days after the injury, Lamichhane visited Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, where medical examinations confirmed cellulitis.
“Due to the crowd of visitors at the hospital and improvement in his health, he said he would prefer to rest at home,” Dr. Sedhain told Onlinekhabar. “Since antibiotics can be administered at home, we decided to discharge him.”
Lamichhane has been receiving three types of antibiotics through intravenous administration and will continue treatment while resting at home.
