The Government of India has provided 220 vehicles to the Government of Nepal for election purposes. The vehicles were handed over as part of the second lot of assistance following a request from the Nepal government.
The handover ceremony was held on Thursday at the Ministry of Finance, where India’s Acting Ambassador to Nepal, Dr. Rakesh Pandey, formally handed over the vehicle keys. Nepal’s Finance Minister Rameshwar Khanal said the vehicles were provided as support for the upcoming elections in line with Nepal’s request.
He informed that out of around 650 different types of vehicles pledged by India, approximately 220 vehicles were received in the second lot. The remaining vehicles, along with other essential materials required by the police, will also be provided by the Government of India in the coming days.
Earlier, India had already handed over more than 60 vehicles to Nepal as part of the same assistance package.
