The CPN-UML is set to make its election manifesto public in the first week of Falgun for the upcoming House of Representatives election.
Speaking at a program organized by Press Chautari Nepal in Kathmandu on Friday, UML General Secretary Shankar Pokharel said the delay in releasing the manifesto was due to the Election Commission’s schedule.
“This time, the Election Commission released the campaign timetable only after candidate registration. In that sense, only internal meetings are taking place now, while the formal election campaign has not yet begun due to the election code of conduct,” he said.
Pokharel explained that since the Election Commission scheduled manifesto publication for a later date, the party plans to release it in the first week of Falgun. “We will unveil the election manifesto in the first week of Falgun, and our candidates will carry it into the campaign,” he added.
He further stated that the UML will publish its manifesto as soon as the Election Commission’s official campaign schedule comes into effect. “Because of the Commission’s timetable, the time to campaign with the manifesto has not yet begun. Once the campaign period officially starts, UML will present itself with the election manifesto,” Pokharel said.
According to him, once the manifesto is released, party candidates will immediately take it to the people. He also noted that the party has already consulted experts during the manifesto preparation process.
