Industrial activity in Hetauda Industrial Area, Makwanpur, has been picking up, with two new industries recently commencing operations.
According to Rameshraj Nepal, Information Officer at the Industrial Area Management Office, Precious Oiṣṭ Refinery Pvt. Ltd. has started test production from early Magh. The company processes old electronics to extract and produce new metals, marking a potentially first-of-its-kind industry in Nepal.
Additionally, Radhakrishna Synthetic Pvt. Ltd. has been producing fully plastic bags since last Kartik. Among previously closed industries, Nepal Brewery is preparing to reopen under new management, while Tripura Industries is set to launch a new tobacco-based venture.
Some industries, such as Roto Printing (plastic printing) and Nobol Packaging, have suspended production in recent months due to lack of investment. Currently, 13 other industries are under construction, most in the final stages of completion.
Established on Mangsir 20, 2070 BS with financial support from the U.S. government, Hetauda Industrial Area now hosts 147 industries and establishments renting land for operations. The industrial area spans 3,228 ropani, with 2,178 ropani leased, 26.52 ropani vacant, and 597 ropani allocated for infrastructure such as roads, electrification, and drainage. The area includes 10 industrial buildings, 11 warehouses, and 34 other structures.
Major operating industries include food processing units, United Brewery (beverages), Gorkha Brewery, Asian Paints, animal feed industries, and carton factories. Government-run facilities like Hetauda Milk Distribution Center, Provincial Food and Quality Control Office, Provincial Seed Company, Soil Testing Office, Area Police Office, and Nepal Bank Hetauda Branch are also located within the industrial zone.
The Information Officer emphasized that the growing number of industries reflects increasing investor confidence and ongoing industrial expansion in Hetauda.
