Interim Prime Minister Sushila Karki has requested an extension of the voter registration deadline.
During a telephone conversation with Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari, Prime Minister Karki urged for an extension, citing the increasing enthusiasm and pressure seen in the voter registration process.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, Commissioner Bhandari informed her that the Election Commission is positive about the request and that the deadline could be extended by five days.
Since voter registration through the voter list has been allowed based on National ID details, a high number of people have been registering online beginning Thursday.
