Nepal Communist Party (Unified Socialist) coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda has said that all left-democratic forces must join hands to solve the country’s existing problems.
Speaking at a Unity Message Assembly held in Biratnagar on Monday, he said that the events of Bhadra 23 had shaken everyone and forced political leaders to self-reflect.
He stated that due to the conspiracies and manipulations on Bhadra 24, the country had reached a difficult situation, adding that Nepal was on the verge of uncertainty for almost two days.
He said, “For two days, it even seemed like Nepal itself might not remain. Madhav Nepal and I are witnesses to that. There were discussions about the King returning, the army taking over, and the President resigning. But after the army and the President called us to Sheetal Niwas and we formed an interim government, the current system survived.”
Prachanda claimed that the President’s letter sent to the Supreme Court exposed the false narrative of a “hahoo government.” He added that the nation is still in crisis and has not yet become crisis-free, emphasizing that elections are the only way to rescue the country from the current situation.
He said that the army and police alone are not enough to protect the nation and safeguard the people’s right to self-determination. Citizens themselves must be ready to stand as a force to defend the country; otherwise, the nation cannot be saved.
Since Nepal is not in a position to fight major powers or develop missiles, he said the people must be prepared to become a force for national defense.
Calling imperialism a “paper tiger,” he expressed that only the power of the people can defeat imperialist forces. He said that the unity and division of parties are natural, but this time the unity achieved is different. Calling the unity of 16 communist parties a historic achievement, he said, “Now, we will not move forward in the old ways — we will advance in a new way.”
