A corruption case has been filed against eight individuals, including the former Vice-Chairperson of Naraharinath Rural Municipality in Kalikot district, Manshova Budha, former acting Chief Administrative Officer Durgalal Nyaupane, and former Ward Chairperson of Ward No. 7, Dal Bahadur Bishwakarma.
The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) filed the case at the Special Court on Monday. According to the Commission’s spokesperson, Rajendra Kumar Poudel, the charge sheet was filed after irregularities were found in the construction of the Adikhola irrigation canal located in Naraharinath Rural Municipality–7.
As per the agreement, a 930-meter-long concrete canal was to be constructed. However, only 354 meters were built. Despite this, documents were prepared stating that 730 meters of canal had been completed, based on which a payment of NPR 19,48,488.14 was released.
The CIAA has also filed charges against former sub-engineers of the municipality—Amar Shahi and Anil Kumar Bista—as well as the Chairperson of the Consumers’ Committee, Naresh Bahadur Shahi, Secretary Kasi Bishwakarma, and Treasurer Madhu Bishwakarma.
