The curfew imposed in sensitive areas of Birgunj Metropolitan City has been extended again. The District Administration Office, Parsa, has prolonged the curfew citing that the law and order situation has not yet returned to normal.
Issuing a notice on Tuesday afternoon, the administration informed that the curfew will remain in effect until 6:00 PM today. Chief District Officer Bhola Dahal said that the curfew, which was earlier enforced until 1:00 PM, has now been extended continuously until the evening.
According to the administration, the curfew has been extended to prevent possible unwanted activities and to ensure public security. Earlier, a curfew had been imposed from Monday evening until 8:00 AM on Tuesday in the Birgunj metropolitan area.
During the curfew period, all forms of movement, gatherings, rallies, demonstrations, assemblies, meetings, and any other activities are strictly prohibited within the designated areas. The administration has urged the general public to remain indoors except for essential services.
In a statement issued by the District Administration Office, it has been made clear that strict action will be taken against anyone violating the curfew order. The administration has also stated that security personnel have been authorized to open fire if necessary, and has requested the public to remain calm and fully comply with the order.
The curfew has been imposed in areas extending from Bus Park, Nagwa, and Inarwa in the east; Sirsiya Bridge in the west; Shankaracharya Gate in the south; and Gandak Chowk in the north of Birgunj Metropolitan City.
