Seven people were injured in a Russian airstrike on Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, early Saturday morning.
Loud explosions were heard across the city shortly after midnight, prompting the activation of Ukraine’s air-defense systems.
Head of Kyiv’s military administration, Timur Tkachенко, said:
“Enemy aerial objects were detected around the capital, and air-defense forces are actively responding to them.”
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko urged residents to remain in safe shelters during the attack. According to him, seven people were injured, four of whom were taken to the hospital. Among the injured is a 13-year-old boy.
Local authorities reported that the strike damaged several residential buildings and vehicles in parts of the city.
Earlier this week, similar overnight attacks triggered fires in multiple neighborhoods in Kyiv, resulting in seven confirmed deaths.
