Tension arose in Laukahi Market, Sunsari, after an auto-rickshaw driver was shot dead by the Armed Police Force (APF). The police deployed tear gas to bring the situation under control.
According to DIG Binod Ghimire of Koshi Province, a few tear gas shells were fired to control the crowd. “The situation is gradually returning to normal,” he stated.
The incident occurred around 1 AM on Thursday in Koshi Rural Municipality–1. The victim, 45-year-old Vijay Sah, died after being shot by an APF team deployed to control smuggling activities.
Reports indicate that Sah was transporting items such as sugar, detergent, and tobacco from India. He was shot near his home and reportedly hit by two rounds of gunfire.
