Vehicular movement along the Daunne section of the East–West Highway has been brought to a halt after the road became slippery due to a cold wave.
Transportation was disrupted after vehicles were unable to move on the uphill and downhill stretches of the Daunne section as the road surface became slippery, causing vehicles to skid.
Police Sub-Inspector Gyan Prasad Kafle of the Area Police Office, Dumkibas, said that vehicles have been unable to operate for the past 15 hours due to the cold wave, resulting in long queues of vehicles on both the Bardaghat and Dumkibas sides.
Although traffic movement is relatively smooth in other sections of the under-construction Butwal–Narayanghat road, significant work still remains to be completed in the Daunne section.
