The CPN (UML) is organizing demonstrations and mass assemblies across all 77 districts on Saturday. The party is staging the protests to oppose what it calls a “regressive conspiracy” and to demand the reinstatement of the dissolved House of Representatives.
Earlier, UML had decided to launch nationwide mobilization against the dissolution of the House. Following that decision, the party has been carrying out gatherings and public activities at the ward, municipal, district, and national levels.
UML says the demonstrations aim to clarify recent political developments since Bhadra 24, the “unconstitutional” dissolution of the House, and the party’s future programs.
Before this, UML had organized gatherings in all 753 rural municipalities on Tuesday, and in 6,743 wards on Kartik 22.
According to its announced schedule, UML will hold a large-scale demonstration and assembly in Kathmandu on Mangsir 6.
Claiming that the dissolution of the House of Representatives was unconstitutional, UML has also called a meeting of its parliamentary party of the dissolved House on Mangsir 2 to devise further strategies regarding the reinstatement of parliament and other ongoing political issues.
The government has announced elections for Falgun 21, but UML continues to argue that the appointment of the Prime Minister and the dissolution of the House were unconstitutional.
