CPN-UML Senior Vice Chair and candidate for party chairmanship in the upcoming 11th General Convention, Ishwar Pokharel, has said that party chair KP Sharma Oli should appear before the commission investigating the Gen-Z movement.
Speaking at an interaction with journalists in Kathmandu on Wednesday, Pokharel said that the commission must not be defied.
He stated that appearing before the commission when summoned is a natural legal process. “It is natural to go and give a statement when the commission calls. If I were in his place, I would have gone even earlier. It is not good to defy the commission,” he said.
Pokharel acknowledged that there may be questions regarding the role and presentation of the commission’s chairperson but emphasized that the legal process must be respected.
“There may be questions about the person appointed as the commission’s head and how he has positioned himself. But one must go to give a statement, present facts, and cooperate with the investigation. I believe our party chair will also go,” he added.
Pokharel also referred to the incidents of Bhadra 23 and 24, stressing the need for impartial investigation into both events. “We all know what happened on the 23rd. Both incidents must be investigated without bias,” he said.
