Ahead of the House of Representatives election scheduled for Falgun 21, the Election Commission has declared 76 candidates ineligible from the closed lists submitted by political parties under the proportional representation system.
According to the Commission, the candidates were removed from the lists for failing to meet legal requirements, having duplicate entries, or due to financial and administrative reasons. Among those disqualified, 21 candidates were found to be blacklisted by the Credit Information Center, while 25 candidates had their names duplicated in the proportional closed lists for the Provincial Assembly.
Similarly, 10 candidates were disqualified for failing to pay fines imposed by the Commission, four for not meeting the minimum age requirement of 25 years, and one for not being listed in the voter registration roll.
The Commission also disqualified two candidates who did not qualify under the backward area quota, one male candidate submitted in a slot reserved for female candidates, and 10 candidates whose names were withdrawn at the request of the respective political parties. The Commission stated that two candidates were declared ineligible based on more than one reason.
The Election Commission has emphasized that the finalization of the closed lists will be carried out with strict adherence to existing laws and regulations.
