The popular folk band Nepathya launched its Nepal tour this year with a spectacular concert in Hetauda. The first notes of the evening resounded on Wednesday at the Bhutandevi School ground, where thousands of enthusiastic spectators danced and joined in the celebration.
Breaking from their usual setlist, the band opened the concert with “Ho Rama Rama”, a song typically played mid-show, immediately energizing the crowd. The performance then continued with hits like “Bhedako Oon” and “Chekyo Chekyo.”
Among the front-row audience was Manyata Sapkota, who expressed that such musical events bring joy to the entire town. “Four years ago, I attended Nepathya’s Hetauda performance with my father. This time, I arrived early to catch all the songs,” she said, dancing throughout the concert with her friends and younger siblings.
The crowd’s enthusiasm extended even to the police stationed for security. Lalumaya Gurung, commanding a team of female officers, admitted with a smile, “We are humans too; our hearts rejoice in such moments!” She also revealed that singer Amrit Gurung is her favorite.
The concert featured classic hits such as “Lampate Surti”, “Chari Mayo”, and “Jomsome Bazarma”, and Amrit performed a new song inspired by his travels to the Karnali region:
“Shirphool shiraima, wanphool wanaima
Hiun ko phool Dhaulasirima”
Amrit used the performance to highlight social messages, encouraging the audience to support children who lack access to education.
As the concert progressed, the band played fan favorites including “Yo Jindagani” and “Gaun Gaun Bata Uth.” During the latter, the majority of the audience sang along with the band. Mid-song, Amrit took a moment to urge everyone to participate in the upcoming elections responsibly, earning applause from the crowd.
The show concluded with “Resham” and “Taal ko Pani”, ending on a beat with “Rato Ra Chandrasurya.” Organizers from Ramailo Events expressed their satisfaction, noting that the concert was both grand and well-managed.
Nepathya introduced their supporting musicians as Dhruv Lama on drums, Subin Shakya on bass guitar, Niraj Gurung on guitar, Shanti Raymajhi on madal, and Dineshraj Regmi on keyboard.
After Hetauda, the band moved on to Butwal, with their next performance scheduled at the Butwal International Conference Center, Ramnagar, on Magh 24 (Saturday), followed by shows in Narayangarh and Bandipur.
