Prime Minister Sushila Karki has said she is deeply saddened by the untimely demise of popular Nepali cinema actor Sunil Thapa.
Stating that with Thapa’s passing, the Nepali and Indian film industries have lost not only a versatile artist but also a strong pillar, Prime Minister Karki noted that his outstanding performances—from the iconic character Rate Kaila in Chino to the coach in Mary Kom—as both villain and supporting actor succeeded in winning the hearts of millions.
In a condolence message, the Prime Minister said that every character portrayed by Thapa will remain alive in the memories of audiences forever. She added that his more than four decades of dedication, discipline, and contribution to the film industry will continue to serve as a source of inspiration for future generations of artists.
Expressing heartfelt tributes, Prime Minister Karki extended her deepest condolences to the bereaved family members, relatives, well-wishers, and the entire arts community.
Actor Sunil Thapa passed away this morning at the age of 68 due to a heart attack.
