The first meeting of the newly elected Central Committee of the Communist Party of Nepal (UML) is being held today. According to the party’s central office, the meeting has been scheduled for 1:00 pm at Karki Banquet in Kathmandu.
The oath-taking ceremony of all office-bearers and central committee members, including party chairman KP Sharma Oli elected from the 11th National General Convention, was completed on Thursday. With the oath ceremony concluded, the party’s new term has formally begun.
Today’s meeting is expected to discuss an overall review of the general convention, the party’s current political direction, distribution of responsibilities within the Central Committee, and future action plans. Party leaders have also indicated that the agenda may include discussions on the formation of the Central Secretariat and the Standing Committee.
The 11th National General Convention of the UML has elected a 301-member Central Committee. The first meeting of the new leadership is being seen as important in strengthening the party’s organizational structure and preparing it to face upcoming political challenges.
