Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairman Ravi Lamichhane is set to be released on Friday after the High Court Tulshipur’s Butwal bench ordered his release on Thursday. Although the order was issued a day earlier, Lamichhane was not released on Thursday as procedural paperwork had not been completed. Since Lamichhane is required to personally appear before the Rupandehi District Court, his release is scheduled for Friday.
The Rupandehi District Court had already sent a letter to Nakkhu Prison on Thursday directing that Lamichhane be produced before the court. A bench comprising Justices Vasudev Acharya and Tejnarayan Paudel ordered his release with three conditions, including a requirement to sign a document agreeing to settle any financial liability related to the case if such responsibility is established.
According to Rupandehi District Court registrar Krishna Prasad Paudel, Lamichhane can only be released after completing the necessary documentation, including verification of bank guarantees and identity confirmation, once the High Court’s official letter is received. Lamichhane is currently in custody at Nakkhu Prison in Lalitpur. In connection with the Supreme Cooperative fund embezzlement case in Butwal, he will be required to repost the one crore rupees bail amount that was set earlier in Magh 2081, which had previously been released, the court confirmed.
