Senior Nepali actor Sunil Thapa has passed away due to a heart attack on Saturday morning.
Thapa, who had been living in an apartment in Shankhamul, suffered a heart attack early Saturday and was rushed to Norvic Hospital in Thapathali, where he passed away during treatment.
The news was confirmed through social media by fellow actor Kedar Ghimire (popularly known as Magne Buda). In his post, Ghimire wrote that he was shocked by the sudden demise of Sunil Thapa and said the Nepali film industry has lost a great personality and a strong pillar. He added that Thapa’s contribution to the field of art would always be remembered and paid heartfelt tribute to the late actor.
Sunil Thapa had acted in hundreds of Nepali films and was widely known in the industry by the name “Rate Kaila.”
Bodybuilder Rajani Shrestha also expressed her sorrow over Thapa’s demise, sharing his photograph on social media. She wrote that his contribution to the arts would always be remembered in Nepal and around the world, adding that their past conversations now remain only as memories.
